Sail along the water to discover the evolutions of Batorama since the birth of the autonomous port of Strasbourg in 1937!
1937
Acquisition by the Independent Port of Strasbourg of one of the launches from the International Exhibition of Paris, the Paris.
1947
The adventure begins, with 10,000 people making use of the only launch at the time, the Paris.
The cruise was then confined to the basins of the Port du Rhin and aimed to explore the infrastructure and industries of the port.
1953
The fleet expanded with the purchase of the Strasbourg, a Rhine passenger vessel with two decks.
1957
The start of cruises on the Ill, made possible thanks to the boat Charles Frey, which was able to pass under the bridges of the city.
1976-80
The fleet continued to expand to 4 Dutch tourist-type launches, transporting 168,000 passengers on an urban cruise.
The audio commentaries were then broadcast using loudspeakers.
1985
The commissioning of the vessel Rouget de Lisle marked a fundamental stage in the history of Batorama.
In fact, the Rouget de Lisle was specially designed to meet the constraints of the Strasbourg urban cruise. With a low vertical clearance and a shallow draft, it was able both to pass under bridges and sail in shallow waters. It is also at this time that commentaries with headphones were provided.
1988
Visit of Pope John Paul II to Strasbourg, where he borrowed the vessel Strasbourg to visit the Port and to sail on the Rhine.
